WHO IS SHE?

BIOGRAPHY

Ghaniyyah Refifah is an Undergraduate Statistics student and a member of the Honors program at Qatar University. With a keen interest in data science and mathematics, she is drawn to fields that encompasses predictability, risk analyses, and evidence-based decision-making. Hence, this has prompted her to pursue a minor in actuarial mathematics. Though she sometimes struggle to convey her passions, she finds great joy in working with data, identifying patterns, and venturing into its potential to address real-world issues.

Her academic journey has been sculpted by a wide range of activities, embracing academic and extracurricular activities alike. During high school, she participated in the World Scholars Cup’s regional competition for two consecutive years, and triumphed as a double qualifier for the global round. She has won various honors including a gold trophy for Scholar's Team Bowl, two gold medals for being a Debate Champion, and six silver medals for team debates and individual intellectual pursuits. She later returned as a debating adjudicator and mentor to younger students, which further instilled in her the appreciation for communication and critical thinking. Moreover, she served as a volunteering tour guide at the National Museum of Qatar during FIFA World Cup 2022, where she obtained the valuable opportunity to conduct Public, VIP, and DMC tours individually upon completing the mandatory training on the museum's extensive content and distinct tour formats, as well as succeeding the trainee evaluation. Additionally, she was formerly a member of the finance committee for the Bye Bye Plastic Bags’ Doha branch: a youth-driven Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that aims to reduce the usage of plastic through education and advocacy, which first began in Bali.

At the university level, her desire to volunteer remains steadfast. Her motivation lies in her love of working with people and gaining practical experience across various fields and disciplines. She held several leadership positions for Qatar University’s 12th Cultural Village event as President, Finance Officer, and primary consultant for the Marketing and Communications committee of the Indonesian delegate team.

These vast experiences have carved her into a reflective and proactive learner with a high sense of appreciation for the values of teamwork, adaptability, and goal-directed work.

A quick glance at my resume features a combination of my academic achievements, various volunteering experiences, and my developing skillset in data, leadership and communication; it is a compilation of all that I have achieved thus far.

"What I hope to do all the time is to be so completely myself — that's what I hope I am. To be so much myself that my audience, and even the people who meet me are confronted. They are confronted with what I am, inside and out, as honest as I can be. In this way, they would have to see things about themselves immediately."
